Wind-blown Snow as a Water Resource
Research History

The Project
The people listed below were the core of the project. Schmidt (your author for these web pages) was at first a cooperator, then winter team member. As you'll see from the references, credit for these research results belongs mainly to Dr. Ronald D. Tabler, who focused the research effort, motivated the project, and developed strong international cooperation. And still Ron spent more time doing field measurements than the rest of us except Snowman Jairell, who was usually with him.

In alphabetical order, members of the project on Control of Blowing and Drifting Snow were:

Ken Bird (K.g.bird), Forestry Technician (retired)
Bob Jairell (Snowman), Hydrologic Technician
Ken Johnson, Range Scientist (now Head of Range Department, U. of Idaho)
R.A. Schmidt (The Smythe), Research Hydrologist
Dave Sturges (Dave the Dude), Research Forester (retired)
Ron Tabler (Tab, a.k.a. The Arctic Fox, but mostly The Blizzard Wizzard, Ol' BlizWiz, for short), Principal Research Hydrologist (retired)
Jim Winter (Winter), Forestry Technician (now with RMRS in Rapid City)
