Managing Drifting Snow
Managing Blizzards for Water
Water for Animals
All trails meet at the water holes, and on the high plains, those trails get
long between water. Water sources are the key to making good use of pastures.
Wells and windmills, pumps and power lines, we put lots of dollars into water
for animals.
Blizzards, those wide, hard-water rivers, can add water to pit reservoirs if
there's lots of blowing snow. Once again, the trick is to balance the size
of the pit (number of animals) with the annual transport of drifting snow.
