platte +water +quality legal
Finds citations containing as many of these words and phrases as possible, ranked so that citations with the most matches are presented first. The search will be carried out in any of the categories set to Yes In this example, if Descriptive Keywords had been the only category selected, the word platte would most likely be ignored. To include platte The Geographic Area choice would also have to be Yes

A phrase is any string of adjacent words that are to be considered in context and position with each other. The way to link words into a phrase is to use quotes. A phrase is the entire string that is to be considered together, eg. +"Wyoming Water Resources Center"

+legal rights +water -"north platte"
Matches may be required, or prohibited. Precede a required word or phrase with + and a prohibited one with -. This query finds citations containing legal and water but not containing the phrase north platte. Citations found that also include the word rights will be ranked first. Again, for this search to be effective, both Descriptive Keyword and Geographic Area would have to be selected.

Searches can be constructed so as to constrain a word to a field. For example, if you were interested in citations for documents found at the State Engineer's Office, you may word your query thus:

+"state engineer's office" +fish

In this case, if Descriptive Keyword and Document Location were the only fields set to Yes, this search would return all citations at the State Engineer's Office with a Descripitve Keyword of fish. In this example, Locations like GAME AND FISH may show up that do not have fish as a Descriptive Keyword because fish is being searched for not only as a Descriptive Keyword, but also as a Document Location.

Querys are not case sensitive and multiple words or phrases may be included in each query.

If you are at a loss as to what to enter, see the three links to the right of the query box, each of these will retrieve a list of Descriptive Keywords, Geographic Areas, or Document Locations.
